The Daleks are breeding

For some while I have had 2 black compost Daleks plus a Heath Robinson affair of 4 pallets tie wrapped together to form a large third compost bin.

A new neighbour recently moved in and revamp his garden.
He was throwing out 2 perfectly serviceable large green Daleks.

I teleported them to my garden and replaced the pallets.

Much tidier than the pallets.

Anyone need 4 rather decomposed pallets ?
Tip run I think, or bonfire fodder 5 Nov.

The amount of compost I get is amazing.
It supplements the bought stuff and I mix it together with bought and horse muck to fill many of my big herb pots.

Anyone else inherited Daleks ?

Not inherited but I did buy a large Rotol bin locally for a pound on ebay.

Are Rotol bins not space inefficient ?
They seem to have a very wide base for no reason.

I actively seek out orphaned daleks and rehome them on my plot. Currently I have seven (I think), plus two pallet bins.

I am way behind have one old inherited dalek, a slatted wood bin and not long ago bought a green johanna hot composter, spoke to my local council about sales of compost they might make, no all green waste is sold to a private contractor, but would I like a free compost bin? so awaiting delivery on what is presumably another dalek

I have just the one dalek. Green and about 15 years old. Am about to get an influx of compost bins, though, in the form of 250 litre olive barrels (a bit like water butts), which I'll be getting Mr Snoop to slice the bottom off so I can upend the barrels and use the slices as lids for my new composting array. These barrels cost around 2 euros apiece. So not free, but not far off.

Jimmy its a nice sturdy bin and that wide base seems to make it easier for me to lift to a new area than the other bins I have. But really I liked the price

There isn't much 'soup'. Not sure if I should own up to this, but I add a fair bit of pee... The compost still dries out very quickly.

I've just reread my earlier post. It's not at all clear. I'm not getting 250 barrels of 1 litre apiece but half a dozen or so barrels that are 250 litres each.

I am a total convert to Rotol bins, I love the Rotol daleks.

After my success of growing squashes in them this season gone.

Next year I'm gonna build a narrow bed that runs the full length of one side of the plot

U-Shaped bed > Half Rotal > U-Shaped bed > Full Rotol > (then repeat of this pattern)

I dig them in about 3-4 inches though then fill them with the bedding that gets delivered to site around February.

This is my "Compost Corner" at my allotment. 5 daleks and 2 wormeries.



I also have 2 daleks and 2 wormeries at home.

I've just moved the two wormeries at the allotment into the greenhouse.



Hopefully it'll help stop them being too cold in the middle of winter.
