Good point - didn’t think about needing drainage holes!

For drainage holes I just heat something - a knife /skewer and it pushes through fine and give a twist. Leaves a hole without splitting the bucket.

Potty used to use a heated copper pipe.

I put the holes an inch or so up the sides, not in the bottom so that they can hold a reservoir of water and don't need to be put on supports to drain.
Does that make sense????

Thats what i've done to my buckets, plus you can poke a strip of wicking fabric into the holes and stand the bucket on a tray and you have a mini self watering system handy when you go away for a few days.

I use the B and Q buckets with Hortons multi purpose compost.
