I was sent some info from sainsburys/nectar and noticed on a flyer that they are offering a free kitchen compost caddy if you buy a roll of their compostable caddy liners from 12/9 to 26/9. dont think its worth a special trip but next time i'm there will probably check it out, s'pose it depends on how much the compostable caddy liners are!!

I got mine on way home tonight, was tipped off about this offer on the BBC Gardening board, (the only good thing ever I got from that site)
The liners are £1.65, the caddy is £2.99
You get the caddy free.

We were thinking of going to Newry tomorrow (toddler needs a larger growbag to sleep in and we usually get those in a shop just over the border) and Sainsbury's is our destination there for a big stock up shop every couple of months.
Would this offer be on there too do you think, or just "the mainland"? (Not trying to offend anyone with territoriality, but as offers are often only UK and not Irish branches, I don;t know if the UK offers usually apply in NI or not....)

I like the idea of free but don't really understand why anybody would use a caddy liner normally, we just put our waste in a caddy and then carry out the radical process of washing it before reuse. Seems to work OK and that way no bags have to be processed or broken down.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

went and got mine this morning on the way back from the school run, the liners are compostable as well, (upto 60 days to rot, apparently) once roll is used up though will not be buying again, just use the caddy and wash it out.
Yoanbob, the caddy looks about 10L in size, fairly cheap looking, but if it stops the numerous trips outside when its raining to the bin at bottom of garden, then it will do.Kernow rag nevra

i got one today, and will be washing once the liners run out, we just used whatever container was at hand before, but this is small enough to sit on the worktop and the lid closes properly (so no flys) we have a bigger one outside which we take to the lottie when full and wash out but we couldnt have it inside because of the flys smell etc, i like this one its brill.Yo an' Bob

thanks for this, will have a look tonight on way to pub
using a fruit punnet at mo, but fruit flies are a problem. I wrap the fruit peelings etc in a newspaper parcel before tipping on heap, so will continue to do that once liners have run out.

I got mine today - caddy is small (I suppose its better being small??).
I brought a container a while ago and have been washing it. So like many of you I won't be replacing the box of bags! Has made me think more again about my bin bags - but you'll be pleased to hear that this week we had one for our refuse men to collect!
