      Thank you for your reply. As you would expect, I am very disappointed that, having paid for a Medlar, and having the order confirmed, it was not actually available. In fact, it seems that, if I hadn't enquired, your system wouldn't have even recorded the order and your Company would have pocketed my £5!
      Events like this lead to a loss of confidence in a retailer.
      I am an active member of the Grow your Own Forum and know that several other members also placed an order for a medlar at the same time. I have asked them to check the status of their orders in case they have also been "lost". If so, you can be sure that there will be more complaints.

        I have checked your details and it appears the Medlar had become sold out as your order was being transferred over from our website. This is why it does not show in your order history. This should have been brought to our attention before now to refund you so I do apologise.I will request the £5 if refunded to your card.

        I do apologise for any disappointment.


        Better check your accounts if you haven't received your medlar yet

        Nope, not showing under my account either.

        Kind of deja vu as they were unable to supply the mirabelle and quince trees from the £5 sale but I had to chase it up with them. And I've just checked and I've still not got the refund I suppose I'll have to chase that up again too.

        It's actually deja deja vu because a couple of years ago I ordered some yacon from them and when it didn't turn up, I emailed them to be told the crop had failed. They wouldn't have even let me know or refund me if I had forgotten about it.

        Seems to be a running theme with Suttons.....

                • Where's the angry button? feels wrong to like posts where it is not just one person has been overlooked and just a refund and a non emotional apology given. Grrr!

                      You've let down at least 4 customers with your medlar offer. Not at all impressed with Suttons.

                      • I emailed them last night so await their answer. It is a bit off I must admit especially as this seems to be a recurring theme. As I said I had forgotten about this order until VC flagged it up...wonder how many others have also forgotten?
                        Should I ever make another order with Suttons, and that will depend on the reply I get, I will definitely be keeping it flagged up!

                          Quite poor service in my opinion!

                          And to add insult to injury they got my name wrong!!

                          • I can accept that, with at least 4 of us putting in orders at the same time, they may have sold out but I can't accept that they "lost" our orders and pocketed the cash. If they lose track of orders, their system is too weak.
                            Such a shame, I've bought from them several times but I'm not sure that I will again.

                              • I'm fast falling out with big companies, they just don't seem to care about their customers, more and more I am buying local or from smaller family businesses.
