  • Thomson and Morgan deal through Moneysavingexpert:
    https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/de...-morgan/#51353

"If you go via this MSE Blagged*Thompson & Morgan**link you can get a bundle of 20 lucky-dip hanging basket 5-9cm plug plants for £8.94 delivered (normally £24.93). You'll also get a pair of garden snips for deadheading (norm £4.99). The discount code*TM_TAF285*should be added automatically to your order, but if not you can add it yourself to the 'promotion order code' box.

The offer ends at 11.59pm on Sun 14 Apr, or when 5,000 plug plant bundles have gone, whichever's sooner – so go quick if it’s something you want.

Important:*You won’t receive your plants immediately. T&M says it will send them when conditions are perfect for planting – but no later than four weeks.

The plants will be a lucky dip from, eg, petunia, fuchsia, lobelia, calibrachoa, osteospermum, verbena and more. Thompson & Morgan says they'll need planting up in pots and growing on, in warm conditions such as a windowsill or conservatory, before planting out in their final positions in your chosen hanging basket or pot. It says they should flower from summer, depending on variety.

The offer is limited to one per transaction so if you want more than one bundle, you'll have to place two orders."

I got some of these free last year when I ordered something from them and if I'd gotten them out of a cheap Christmas cracker I'd have been disappointed.

I've just checked the website and they have 4 stars from 347 reviews, I must be wrong then.

      • I just bought a pair of these, haven't used them yet as there's not much to deadhead yet

Only paid £2 though in Tkmax, so not the end of the world!

        • The snips look like the sort of thing my Mum had in her “Quality Street Sewing Tin” - just about good enough to trim a few dangling cotton threads.
But I haven’t bought them, so I could be wrong!

          • I've had a couple of them as "freebies". Too tiddly and fiddly for me to use. Thread snippers is about right!

            • Mmm, thought they'd be handy to have in my pocket and whip out to deadhead the sweet peas and suchlike.

              • Just for you, Babru, I've been snipping. Cut some mint with them and it worked fine. Good for soft stems but not so good for dead stems. Wouldn't keep them in my pocket though as they're verrrrrrrrrry pointy although they do have a little sleeve for protection.

                • ALDI have Erysimum Bowle's Mauve in 1 Litre pots for £1.79. In store only. Apparently excellent for bees etc. Sterile and may need to be replaced after a few years, but easy to propagate from cuttings.

                  • Thank you VC, I will take care with the pointy bits

NB toomanytomatoes post about Bowles Mauve, it's the top performing flowering plant in my garden. I bought one January 2018 and it has been flowering every month since then. No wonder it's short-lived Good price for a big pot too.

                              • Went to a Blue Diamond GC today (first time since it took ver the local Wyevale).
They were selling all their Flower bulbs and Tubers (lots of dahlias and glads, agapanthus and lilies),
begonia tubers, onion, garlic and shallot sets, potatoes and some random roots like horseradish and artichokes --------------at half price.
I bought some Meloine shallots (pink skin) and some onion sets - even though I had decided not to grow any this year. I'm so weak willed.
They also have some special offers on compost like 2 bags Jack's Magic for the price of one (limited to one lot per person).
