Am fantasising here as I read - too late tonight for me to have chips on account of I'm not so young as I was and have more hips than I used to.
But, having read and slavered over this thread, I've promised myself chips tomorrow - the whole works, vinegar, salt and the butter melting over the side of the bun.
My hopes are not always realized but I always hope (Ovid)
Hm. I've never had a chip butty before. After just watching The Supersizers Wartime show, I'd imagine that the bread and potato with butter combination as a meal was probably invented then. Starch on top of starch with a slathering of saturated fat. Where do I sign up? At least they had nutrient enriched bread back then!

Oh, what a sheltered life you've lived marigold! Lol
Funnily enough, I was eating a Donna kebab the other day when a colleague says " Oh, whats that you're eating???" ..............You're joking says I, with chilly sauce running down my chin!
She'd never seen a kebab!

I parked my car one night at a hotel in town that had a nightclub part to it. Went in for the evening and came out at the end to do the taxi run home. When we got the car someone had left a kebab on the roof and it had got frozen to it. There it stayed pretty much the whole of the route home/dropping folks off..........
Not the oddest thing I have found on my car either
