I'd be interested to know how your lemon tree does, everyone I know has managed to kill theres really fast, so I'm reluctant to get one...

My mum in law bought one of these lemon trees, complete with lemons, she was unwrapping the label and saw it said that they were for decoration purposes only. She phoned Aldi who told her that they were not an edible variety, obviously not dangerous to eat, but tastes horrid. They said she could take it back, even though she had bought it several weeks before, so she did

I bought a lemon tree a couple of years ago, and despite my sporadic attentions it's done really well. Has 5 lemons on it at the moment - will decide soon whether the nice plump yellow on is going into and Vodka and Tonic or a Lemon Sponge.

I've never heard of an ornamental lemon! Lidl and Aldi also sell crab apple trees as ornamental but you can still eat/cook the fruit. I've had my lemons for about five years. I grow them in large pots and put in green house in the winter. Lime trees seem to fruit better and B&Q sometimes have them reduced because they look worse for wear but recover very well. Don't worry if all the leaves fall off, it happens sometimes with citrus. My lime has over 50 limes on at the moment. The orange and mandarin trees only about 6 on each but loads of blossom. I left one mandarin outside this winter to see how it survived in the weather and although the tips have got frost bite and there's no fruit it's still alive. Too much water is usually what kills citrus. They are also prone to scale insect.
