  • hessian sacks for storage

    Hi everyone!

Just wanted to share this with you in case you find yourself in a similar situation:

I needed to find something to store all my potatoes in that I was about to dig up, but didn't necessarily want to be forking out for anything. As I was walking past a pet shop the other day, I noticed in their rubbish outside, a hessian sack filled with more rubbish, so went inside and enquired. It turns out that said pet shop gets it's peanuts in sacks and the bags just get chucked, so I relieved them of a newly emptied bag (didn't fancy the one with the rubbish), which is now awaiting me getting off my backside and doing some digging!

So if you need some storage sacks, it might be worth asking in your local petshop.

You could have had the other one & put it in the wahing M/C waffler would have been as good as new.

I use the paper sacks myself from the local chippy as you can write on them what sort of tatties they contain

I hadn't thought of the chippy; I tried the local farmshop, who said they would've given me a couple but at the time didn't have any. It never occurred to me to wash the sack!!

Ive got two paper sacks and two cardboard boxes full of tatties. In the bottom of the sacks I put a little cushion of bubblewrap in first to stop bruising the bottom tatties when I move sacks!

Like the tip about the bubble wrap. Thanks Snadger.

As with a couple of other threads this shows what an inventive, resourceful lot we are and think of the stuff that isn't going to landfill.

                  Well done folks!

If you speak nicely to the person putting out produce at Sainsburys they will keep the paper sacks that the potatoes came in! I know I was that person!!!
