peat free compost £ 1.99 for 30 l and in the salad vegetable section trays of 10 salad plants each (to grow on your window sill lol ). Look absolutely fine for separating and planting in the veggie bed @ 99p per tray. I saw crispy lettuce (looks like oak leaf ) and oriental greens (pak choi). The salad pants might be in the veg section regularly as they tend to keep the specials elsewhere.

The peat free sells out quickly each time!
The salads were not that great to transplant as too many (!!) in the tiny tray. I've got about 30 under cloches and fleece, if 10 make it it was still a good deal.

I've been very disappointed with the LIdl compost i got. the peat free wasn't as bad as the peat based, but they were both very poor. saw off all my newly bought strawberry roots. thanks. also it seems to pack down very hard without much encouragement, one of my peppers looks like it's never even broken through into the new compost and is still stuck in it's original root ball.
This could be down to me, as i'm still very green.

i wouldn't take the b&q stuff for free! (well, maybe free but wouldn't pay for it!) it's rotten stuff, new horizons is by far the best i've used. went to get some more the other day but they had none left, got some grow bags though at 3 for £5 (35l) which i didn't think was bad value.

Our GC had an offer on a bit back where you could get 3 bags of New Horizon for a tenner which was pretty good as I really rate the stuff and it's about the only one I'll buy.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
