I really miss not living so near to Bookbarn now - wasted many an hour wandering around those cavernous barns!
On the Ebay horror story front: when I first started using Ebay I didn't get off to a great start as I bought a skirt from someone and it never turned up. In that situation, after many communications with the seller you report the issue to Ebay who will then contact the seller to investigate. It seems that if you use Paypal to pay (which I had) ebay can simply reverse the transaction so you are refunded. Of course if you have paid by cash or cheque this is not so easy, so I don't know what happens in that situation. Certainly the seller I had an issue with had several negative comments against her username and shortly afterwards was chucked off ebay. So my advice to you if you decide to use ebay is to set up a Paypal account and use that (it's safe and secure - just don't give out your password to anyone e-mailing for it under the guise of ebay or Paypal) and also always check a user's feedback - if they have negatives it might not have been their fault, but you can always read what has been said and make up your own mind, and usually if they have several negatives it's a good indicator that you need to tread carefully. This was the lesson I quickly learnt from my experience.
I actually think Ebay is fantastic - I've bought loads from it, but more recently have made nearly £300 just from selling bits and bobs around the house to raise wedding money and have had no problems at all.
