    Why would it be free????
Maybe I'm being a bit harsh on the companies, but.......HMV and Play offer free delivery on everything, regardless if weight.

      Packet of seeds say 1.50, say 20% margin = 30p. First class stamp = 39p. LOSS = 9p

      Cd say 8, say 20% margin = 1.60. First class stamp 39p. PROFIT = 1.21

I would imagine that HMV and Play get bigger margins than 20% too. I think that often seed companies will do free postage if you spend enough though.

Well, I don't mind paying P&P, but, the minute you say you want seeds to be delivered to Ireland the price goes up so much.
You are classified by some seed companies as being part of Europe and charged accordingly
          Whats fair about that?i

I'll sell you some seeds postage free! Anything you want. 10 per packet.

The postage is irrelevant, it's the total cost that's important.

I dare say me buying something from Ireland would cost me more than it would you.

Set up an Irish seed selling website!

Or an Irish Seed Saving Group?

All of you save the seeds from one particular plant and then you package them up and everyone gets some seeds from each plant.

                  Total cost: postage only.

I use my local (very small, family run) garden centre, B&Q, and the freebies from magazines for fruit and veg.
Have also used Thomson Morgan and Van Meuen for flowers and shrubs in the garden. And am now looking forward to the seed swap thingy that Zazen has very kindly organised for us.
Will now be allowing some of what I have to go to seed and saving that, already have some chive seeds for next year.

I usuall go for all the online freebies, save my own and then go for the cheapest I can find. The 20p Netto packets have been quite good this year. I was suprised by the germination rate too, pretty good.

I very rarely buy from big names (unless I have a free voucher) or garden centres, just too expensive.

If I want something special that intend to save myself in future then I go to Great Vegetable Seeds from The Real Seed Catalogue
