I have seen (and I'll have to look these up on t'web) some little insoles to bob in the microwave and put inside your wellies...

OWG if you could find that out, that would be great - sounds ideal!
Thanks everyone for your help and advice. Dexterdog

So there you go DDL, break out the booze it's a good excuse, just a shame I don't like spirits myself!
Sue - that definately sounds the trick! I've still got my blackberry whiskey ready and waiting for next week. Dexterdog

Can't remember what it's called, but think thats the one -we went up again summer 2005 - much warmer! It's the one near the caravan site and the actual "garden centre" bit is now very big and there is a lovely cafe there as well. Well recommended to all fly fishers! Dexterdog

It is Hammerlands. Know it well, many 6lb+ trout from there over the past couple of years. Have you tried Jerico lock on the way to Dumfries? A bit pricey but I think that the trout are better. Can't wait to get back over Christmas.

PS. Are you sleeping after the excitement of becomming a plotholder?
DDL, I have the same problem, Raynauds syndrome & my toes & fingers go white, blue & purple too & my toes go completely dead & painful at the same time(is that possible?).

Mentioned this at the Docs earlier today - nurse confirmed I had Raynauds and the associated problems - my fingers and thumbs are very painful and sorry, guys, red raw - no proper skin on them at the moment! (Chilblains on the fingers apparently) She said I should see the Doc to get some cream, which I guess I should do, but hey, Ive had this for years - keeping on with the thermal gloves etc. etc.!
I do choose suitable hobbies dont I? Dog walking, fishing, gardening, motorcycle riding etc! LOL! Dexterdog

DDL, you might find you have problems in later life with rheumatism/arthritis due to the Raynauds, I had x-rays & blood tests when it was diagnosed as they are associated, but I got the all clear at the time ( about 10 or 11 years ago). I'm getting a bit worried now though as my older half brother has arthritis in his hands & shoulder & mum had it in her fingers! I lika a lot of outdoor activities like you & walk everywhere as I don't drive (got OH. as chauffeur rest of time!) & you can't always wear gloves when you're doing fiddly jobs in the garden or taking photos/sketching etc. as I do. Hope you get your hands & feet sorted out & have a nice warm Christmas.

For nice warm feet I'd recommend thermal insoles in your wellies. I was a bit sceptical but they really do work.

Thanks for that lovely idea Snadger - trouble is the old paws are too sore to do that! I need my thick double lined lakeland plastics oven glove sheet thingy to take stuff in and out of the oven - good idea though! warm water in a bowl slowly gets the circulation going - which is useful seeing as Im a typist! Thanks Sue and Martini for your advice - yes, i know someone whose wife had the more severe form of Reynards (cant remember the name) poor lady actually lost a couple of fingers - but she had the most severe form of the disease.
Ive got myself some hydrocortisone cream and am putting it on my finger tips (I look really sexy with the white gloves I put on to stop it going everywhere - bit like the black and white minstrels!) and am making sure I put my gloves on everytime I go out.
Got some thicker socks, but will get some proper ones from Millets (aka Diggers advice). Also on the search for some fur lined boots as I intend to get down to my lottie at every opportunity!

Tights under trousers in the winter (try it, nobody can see!) On the allotment I wear thick wool-mix socks (Poundshop if you're lucky) and wellies. If it's super-cold I put my feet inside carrier bags (after socks, before wellies).

Hello RL - actually, you've reminded my of my early biking days (before leather trousers!)- yep, black woolly type tights under my jeans, and in wet weather, feet in carrier bags then leather boots - not forgetting the fishermens socks! DDL

Wellies are pants for keeping your feet warm and offer poor support to your feet.

If you need warm, comfortable footwear that can be worn all day without issue, is waterproof, doesnt need lacing up, are readilly available and well priced go for something that every highway worker wears,

RIGGER BOOTS!!!
