  • Too many Plant Pots

    How do,
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions with what to do with old plant pots. I have quite an enormous collection of plastic plant pots and my wife is quite keen to get rid of them. I'll keep a few obviously but I don't want to just throw the rest away.
Can they be given back to garden centres? Or better would be a kind of charity or something like that.
    Any ideas?

    Ta

    Jim

I think that Wyevale will take plastic pots back for recycling.

Or perhaps you could offload a few by placing in a box at the front of your property (if you have room) with a 'help yourself' notice?

          Freecycle.
You can offload almost anything and obtain almost anything.
Doesn't take too much effort to sign up and the idea is to keep things out of landfill that can be put to good use.

I would recommend Freecycle too, when I was starting out earlier this year I got all my pots and tray off it and was grateful too :-)

I just sorted out 100+ pots & troughs: sold some on eBay, and Freecycled the rest.

Where do they come from??????? I haven't bought a plant-pot in 10 years, yet I just seem to keep getting more.

I use damaged plastic pots and the very flimsy/flexible placco pots as fillers/drainage in large terracotta pots/troughs to keep the weight down.

You could build yourself a flowerpot man stacking different sizes one inside the other. The Bill and Ben type of thing, would be easier to do if you made it so it was sat down.

I put small one's on top of cane's in the green house for the spiders to live in, that way there near to the bugs that munch my plants.

Great idea - I'll try that. Thank you.
