  • Idea for a bag to save large seed in.

I have quite a few seed heads from Sunflowers and pods from Dwarf Runner and Runner Beans etc and I was wondering how to to save the seed from them without having to shell out for some large paper bags. I then remembered that I go through two or three bags of cat litter for my cats each week and always wonder what to do with the empty bags, so I have decided to use the bags to store the seed and then hang them up from the handle in the garage.

If you leave a little litter in the bottom of the bag; will that absorb any moisture as the seeds dry?

Good question. I should think it would.

is there any reason why you don't want to take the seeds out of the pod and sunflower heads?
Never test the depth of the water with both feet

The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory....

Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.

I have a large pile of paper bags that I use for Avon and I use these for storing flower heads.

I have raked the soil and planted the seeds

I just prefer to let the seeds fall out of the pods and sunflower heads in their own good time rather than go to the bother of pulling them all out.

Take a sheet of newspaper. Fold it in two. Fold the sides edges over a couple of times to create a seal and staple along the length.

One large paper bag made in less than a minute. I keep seeds in these but often smaller versions cut down to a more appropriate size.

Plus, you could always pop one of those silica gel sachets in the bag to keep things dry.

My daughter has a thing about shopping in Primark. These days they give out brown paper carrier bags instead of plastic ones so I always nab them off her.
