Another use for Washing machine tumblers

Don't buy one of those compost tumblers just get the drum and housing off an old washing machine take off the drive belt and use the well machined drum for tumbling small amounts of compost. By spinning the wheel at the back it runs quiete smooth.

Every time my mother destroyed another washing machine, she took the drum and made a container. Pretty good for the 1960s

You can also can get good ones from the automatic machines trust me that is where I found and use mine. I run mine with a drive belt attached to a Lister D staionary Engine. It does the job

I've made a couple of planters from old tumble-dryer drums and they're wonderful - I've clad them in feather boards attached with self-tapping stainless steel screws - Once planted, a top-dressing of slate chippings covers any clue of what lies beneath!
