Slugs!!!

Yes there is a way to keep these horrid little things away from your all so tasty new shoots in the garden,particularly good if you live near the coast. Well it worked for us last year.
Get yourself to the seaside with a very large bucket and collect as much sea weed as you can carry. Wrap it around the base of your new seedlings,use it as a mulch. Cuts down on the watering too. The slugs came no where near our runner beans last year.

Shouldn't you wash the salt off it first in case it kills your seedlings as well.

No.......well we didn't,the slugs stayed well away and the white lady runner beans were a huge success.

Take care though, because salt does work well as a weedkiller. It's non-selective, so will kill useful plants too
