cheep seeds

I have been told that netto is selling packs of seeds at 19p a packet, flowers and vegetables. I have also noticed that B&Q have a value range of seeds at 39p which is less than a third of the price of the normal range. My question is do you think with seeds you get what you pay for or is a seed a seed?
do you think that the cheeper seeds will have a lower sucess rate or be weaker plants for instance. I would also be interested which make of seeds you all buy and why.

I set my whole allotment with DT Brown seeds fron Netto's at 19p per packet last year.!!! I had no failure's and good crops!!

I have seen the ones's in our local Netto this year and although priced the same at 19p, they are from Country Value (whoever they may be?)

I shall still be using them though, as it's worth taking a chance at that price!

They are amazing value aren't they? I am going to have to buy at least a few packets to give them a try.

Some of the "special price" seeds sold by companies like Netto and QD are cheap because they contain less seeds than the packets sold by seed merchants. However, how many seeds do you need? I find that, even with an allotment, I never use a whole packet of seed so I would rather buy more varieties for my money. Also, although you can save seed from year to year the germination rate goes down. On balance, unless you want specific varieties give the cheapies a go

Last year being my first time, and knowing nothing at all, bought the variety pack of seeds from B&Q - well impressed and no problems at all. Worth a go if you are a newbie. DDL

The only trouble is knowing when places like Lidl are gonna have them in stock. But if you can get them they're great prices.

cheap seeds

ive just bought some from alanromans site today at 50p each i thought they were cheap but will be off to netto this week to see

I bought four packets of seeds from Somerfield last year (heaven knows why as I had enough). One packet didn't have any seeds in them, two packets didn't germinate (old seeds?) and the other just threw up a few shoots.
Learn't my lesson I'm afraid.

They are usually in for quite some time. I'll let you know when ours are in as you should be getting the same offers as us at the same time.

Lidl want to build a store near to me...As it is on an industrial estate I hope they get the planning permission then I can dip into the bargains...
