Hello Gardeners!
I have been very 'green' recently and have made use of some most unusual pots to plant my veggies in. Some ideas:
I use toilet roll/kitchen roll tubes to plant my peas and beans in - you can just plant the whole thing in the ground as it decomposes and allows the roots to be directed nice and deep in the soil.
I am currently growing basil in an old pair of wellies - just make a few drainage holes in them and they look really good and great for keeping herbs in.
Other things i've done in the past... Used the platic trays you get supermarket soft fruit/tomatoes in to start my seeds germinating - they already have drainage holes. Also good for re-using are: yoghurt pots/chinese take-away cartons/ice cream tubs/old trugs and an old bathtub!
Anyone else got any good ideas? I think its very important that we make the most of what we have! As a Scientist, I think this is the future!
Cheers,
Lisa
p.s. Watch out for the frost tonight!! tomatoes not happy!
