Concrete planters

Hi, I've been given some concrete planters, two of them are long trough shapes and the other is a small square one.

Am thinking of planting herbs in them, just think the concrete looks a bit ugly and wondered if anyone has any ideas (or experience) for making them look less ugly.

Am thinking paint them might be one option.

Paint them, or wrap hessian or twigs round them. Plant a trailing plant to cover the sides. Or just sink them into the ground, but that seems a bit of a waste!

I like your idea of wrapping old or ulgy with stuff Glutton4, a bit of willow or something could transform and co-ordinate a range of pots.

Thanks for your ideas. How would you go about wrapping twigs around them? Maybe I should have said they're about 10 inches high.

I read that if you paint them with yoghurt they will become covered in moss which will look natural.

Really? Never heard that about yoghurt before. Just a bit concerned the moss would spread to the soil though?

Yup, They advise spraying weak yogurt on a newly tiled roof to help it weather!

You can buy willow screens, brushwood, straw, or split bamboo. It is held together with two or three rows of woven string or wire. Just cut it to the right height, and wrap it round.
