Its my niece ella-lilys 3rd birthday on sunday. A couple of weeks ago she planted some onions in a pot - and is excited that they are growing! I've fot her a small gardening tool set, and was going to buy her some seeds to plant. What does everyone suggest? Thanks! Bernie aka Dexterdog

Bush type cherry tomatoes? I planted those (tumbling tom) as my first go at tomatoes and got loads and loads despite my ignorance - got a lot less from my cordon type the year later. They also seem to germinate very quickly, as do Marigolds (one day for my batch).
Alpine Strawberries ?
(I'm trying to think what fruit/veg my goddaughters liked to eat when they were really young).
Small carrots like Parmex ?

Go for things that don't have really small seeds as they'll be easier for her to handle - on this basis perhaps a courgette plant could be good, especially on of the pretty coloured ones.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

also get her some cress seeds about 2 weeks for her to eat what she had grown and can watch the progress every day (try to go for a type that does not have a strong taste because if it is to hot she will not want it).
Raddish again only 4 weeks - maybe try T&M's rainbow mix as they are great colours and only 69p on trial.
Sweetcorn - You can see if you can get her some dwaft type so that they are not too tall that she can not see it.

Miss Eb is a flower fiend this year although once the planting starts in earnest I expect sweetcorn will be a fave. Most of the suggestions would be fine. How about some little lettuce? Carrots while a little fiddly to plant have the bonus of being great for little ones to eat small.Bright Blessings

I go my 4yr old carrot seed tape so that it wasn't too fiddly for him so you could try those. And I think every child should have a pumpkin too!

How about nasturtiums? Easy seeds to handle and they grow quite quickly.
Peas were always my kids favourites - they grew quickly and they liked eating straight out of the pods!~
