Whoops - that was a fast reaction on my part - took less than a minute to treat myself to 5 books!
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

According to Hugh he included the egg because some of the recipes say serve with a poached egg on top.
        Location....East Midlands.

Is that the thrifty forager - what's not good about it as I have put it on my birthday wishlist. The best cookery writer I have found aside from liking gool ole Delia is that pie girl with the fifties hairdo. Her online recipes are terrific. Stacie Stewart and The Beehive Bakery.

I just got the Thrifty Forager book, although I have not read it all the way through, I liked the leaf pages, (ie big pictures of leaves to help identify them) and I love the layout and photography. I got it for my birthday.....well I bought it for myself as a birthday present..... It sort of jumped in my amazon basket and then the buy now button kept calling me...

You make it sound a good book - am relieved as I thought it sounded good.

It is good, it's just not what I expected That said, I didn't read the synopsis - my usual bull at a gate attitude .

I should be coming up to derby soon, if you want to meet up and show me the ropes of your local haunts for forgaging, I can bring it along if you'd like a flick through it? Depending on when we get some work done... but should be within 2-3 weeks I'd have thought.

Fruits may be over by then. What are you after and I'll see if my freezer can take any more. I have fifteen apple trees to strip plus my neighbour's three trees. Damsons I can still get. Elderberries are going over quickly/getting stripped by birds. I have sloes, bullaces and Ms Z may let us into her world in 2-3 weeks if it's a definite trip!
Yes, bring the book please chap! You're welcome to come scrumping

Not after much really - perhaps just to see where things are?

Ya never know, the whole marks family may turn up - knowing my old man!

15 apple trees? - what in your garden?!

I looked at these today in Waterstones. They look lovely books. On a good note Mr VVG has ordered Thrifty Forager and RC Veg books for my birthday so I am a happy bunny
