yep Hab's should be sowed by lastest i'd say end of Feb, although the orange hab is quite a prolific little sow and sow and grows a bit quicker and defo more yeild than some of it's cousins i think thats why a lot of the larger growers use them for sauces etc

By your reactions I thought he was going to take a chainsaw to the plant. That type of pinching doesn't look too bad, and I like the benefits of it as well.

I'll pinch mine out when they hit two feet tall, only six inches to go.
Tried and Tested...but the results are inconclusive

ok, so follwing on from this original post i decided to do a bit of a trial
              variety was Numex Twighlight
i have about 50 plants and left 10 to their own devices and pinched out the tips as in the video and i must say the difference is plain for all to see
the one on the right is standard and on the left was pinched out

See the photos in post #21. The pinched out ones were much bushier and a better shape...lots more branches for fruit .
What chillies are you growing Gringo.

I have done this in the past, but like many other experiments, I have either forgotten to follow up for results or just not carried it through properly..Might have a go again with some Jalapenos this year and actually try and monitor the outcome..
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

                      ...utterly nutterly

Hi Scarlet, yes I saw the photo but was asking more about yield.

I've grown Korean chilis for the last few years for my other half - she has them with everything, usually raw. The pack says capsicum annuum and 'Danong' - the only bits not in Korean! They look very much like cayennes only straighter and a little bit chunkier.

For myself, I've experimented with various brands . My favourite last year which I'm growing again this year is called Fresno. And after a wee bit of research I've decided on Santa Fe Grande and Costeno Amarillo too, as perhaps being similar but different (does that make sense?) to Fresno.

I usually grow about 12-15 Korean ones, so will try a bit of experimental brutality with some of those, I suspect.

"Fresno" - thanks for that gringo - its a type I'd grown a few years ago and had excellent yield without having to give them much maintenance. Been trying (unsuccessfully) to remember the name for a couple of years now... ;(
