My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)
We need some privacy at the end of our garden as we are badly overlooked by neighbours on a new site. The ground is very wet and boggy, I've tried to grow shrubs but they have rotted and died. Any suggestions? Desperately need privacy!!
Rosa Rugosa whips to form a hedge are available now in garden centres and most roses like a fair bit of wet. If it's too boggy I'd recommend improving your drainage by breaking it all up first with a spade and/or fork and letting the frost break it down further, before adding some rotted leaf humus, thn plant in spring. Rosa Rugosa hedging can get quite tall and will provide a thorny, thick barrier up to around seven/eight feet unchecked. Or maybe look at hazels, willows which love wet earth.
