Rosa Rugosa whips to form a hedge are available now in garden centres and most roses like a fair bit of wet. If it's too boggy I'd recommend improving your drainage by breaking it all up first with a spade and/or fork and letting the frost break it down further, before adding some rotted leaf humus, thn plant in spring. Rosa Rugosa hedging can get quite tall and will provide a thorny, thick barrier up to around seven/eight feet unchecked.
