Topsy Turvy Planters!

Saw advert in last edition of GYO has anyone used them or tried homemade ones. We are running out of ground space and i think these would look great on shed decking. But do they work?. Would love to hear from anyone who has used them and please tell me what you have grown in them.

Saw them advertised, not sure. What's wrong with normal hanging baskets? or raised pots?

Geordie did a thread on this a year or so back LJ will know where to find it cos she's good like that. One of the guys at work tried it usind the bags that sand & gravel comes in and he aid it worked brill.

I grew Totem tomatoes last year hanging down from my hanging basket, rather than growing up and they were good. Not a great success because I didn't have much luck with tomatoes at all last year! I'm going to try it again this year though. Just use your usual hanging basket, but plant them hanging underneath instead of the top. (like the lobelia in a flowering hanging basket). If you want something at the top plant a few nasturtium seeds. Looks very pretty!

I have bought three as I only have limited garden space. I have tried sweet million cherry tomatoes which are a cordon variety. The one in the topsy turvy already has a number of small green tomatoes. The ones in tomato pots have loads of flowers, but no tomatoes yet.
I will try to post a picture when I find out how to do it.

The plant in the Topsy Turvy just starts to turn round and grow upwards. I will keep you informed of the progress if you're interested.

I have also put the Italian Beef tomatoes - Costoluto Fiorentina in Topsy Turvy's - they are not looking so happy - but have not been in for so long. I've also tried a yellow courgette.
