    I mean honestly RickVanMan is a great guy with good videos but how do his allotment videos get thousands more views than Mark?

    Marks videos are brilliantly produced and more informative than Gardeners World has ever ever been!
    I'll have to check these out, just caught a couple of minutes of one of the videos and they look pretty good.

          I'm thinking of doing some vids on growing for show.
          I will probably start these at the end of this summer/autumn in preparation for the new year.
          It's early in planning and I would appreciate some ideas of things that viewers would like to see?
          I think that the main points of growing are pretty much taken up by the aforementioned people such as Sean, Dan, Claire, Mark and Rick. All of whom make for some fabulous viewing.
          I have some ideas of my own but some feedback on things you'd like to see could be incorporated into mine if the demand is there.
          I grow mainly for the plate but certainly enjoy the challenge of entering the local show to gain some bragging rights in my local town with by growing some larger varieties of mainly vegetables. A bit if competition keeps me thinking of new ideas and gives me a buzz when I receive comments from fellow plot holders.
          Tell me your thoughts?

            That'd be great if you do start filming Allotment Shed - I've been steadily watching back episodes of most of the videos listed on this thread, and very few of them cover growing for show so that'd be a new angle (one of them, allotmentdiary, does grow competition onions, which came to a sad end when they bolted).

            Hats off to everyone who takes the time to make these videos, all the filming and editing must take ages. The variety in presentation styles is quite noticeable, and I guess different viewers will have different preferences. I think they're all great, but my own favourites are Sean, and Bunty. I like Seans videos because of the very un-rushed feel about it, plus he grows flowers (my main interest) as well as veg, he tries out the latest gadgets which is interesting, and his videos also have a sort of community feel due to the fellow allotment regulars and the cats etc. The other thing which both he and Bunty have is high quality film, and especially not having that background wind noise which some of the others have (makes it hard to follow). I really like Buntys videos too, mainly because of her no-nonsense approach and she gives out so much advice, a lot of which I've never read in my gardening books.

            I think the length of the videos is also important. Some of them seem a bit on the short side, personally I think from about 8 to 15 minutes is about right, with variety in the content (again what I like about Sean is that he'll focus on something for a couple of minutes, and then onto something else. Though to get that effect I guess he takes ages to do all the editing)

            Anyway, that's just my thoughts, I'm sort of hooked on watching these things now!! I guess for me, the most important thing about watching them is that I learn something, or get inspired to try to grow something new. It'd be really interesting to watch how veg are grown for competitions, that's a whole new world to me. Please do go for it!!

              @WPG thanks for the comment.
              I have spoken to Sean about this and he said that he'll help with tips and tricks (he works in TV), Dan of allotment diary does indeed grow for show and a mix of what they both record for YouTube is where my angle on GYO would be a mixture of.
              I am looking into equipment at the moment and hope to get something done a bit later in the year.
