Has anyone tried this tip? I'm not entirely convinced about the biodegradable/environmentally friendly comment at the end of the video but am happy to be corrected.

The crystals in the nappies soak up the water so you don't need to water often. I've never tried it, but I have read and seen videos on it.

We had a thread on this a while back as I remember. I'd not be at all keen on using them anywhere near anything I was going to eat - not happy about the crystals which they sell for water retention so certainly not going with the DIY option. In theory I would use them for ornamentals but as I put all my used compost on the heap it'd still end up near my veggies when I mulch my beds so I'm keeping well clear.

I've read about it too but the thought of emptying a nappy (even brand new) is too much for my delicate stomach

They're not, I Googled it when I first read about this idea and found it quite worrying that so many of these things are in landfill

I thought about the landfill problems too when I saw this. I think I'll give it a miss, though I'm sure I could get a nappy from some of the mums whi come in to work.

VC, you have dogs, how can yoy be squeamish?

I had heard about bleach but not vinegar for cut flowers Cariann. Always scared of fumung myself out of the house so haven't bough bleach in about 10yrs (ever since I nearly gassed miself )

Unfortunately it's not always imaginary at work. We get all sorts and once had a littly boy use a kids lunch bucket to be sick in. Eeeeuw
