  • Cooled off a bit this morning, woken by thunderstorm at 6.30 and had to dash round and shut the velux before I got a very early morning shower!

Rain much needed not just for the garden but the water butts were getting very low due to the Mucky Ducks. Never knew that they used so much water.

    • Been out in No 2 potager all day or helping chum's get the gite bit of their garden organised, but so hot again.

But this evening, wind was really blowing hard and have had a couple of decent showers so an early finish this evening, no watering to do

The bizarre woman on Fr.3 meteo says it's an alert for 24 tomorrow plus a lot of other departements So a day working in the shed making mini fruitcages for the myrtille and gooseberries, they're mine, the jays have had a lot of the cherries off the early tree but the soft fruit is mine!

          • You wish Nicos

Grey and overcast in 24 today, temperature decidedly cooler, may need to wear trousers rather than shorts today and may even need a gilet. Definately working in the shed today.

            • OOOOOH sounds lovely Nicos, squidging up between your toes!!!!

Hot again yesterday 26C but with storms around, not that we got a huge amount of rain but the butts are full again. Fine light rain today so will get on with the 'wood butchery' and make a cover for the gas bottles.

              • Been raining on and off all day but the meteo for tomorrow looks good so off to chums to build some decking for them round their swimming pool.

I'm getting the feeling that I should register as an autoentrepeneur and start actually charging for all this bloody work I do - trouble is I enjoy it so much and it keeps my gardening building skills up to scratch.

                    • Rain stopped by lunchtime yesterday so the wood butchery was off and gardening on. Lovely sunny morning today so I am going to get the strimmer out before it gets too hot.

                      • Better day today. I hated that drizzle yesterday that did nothing but get me wet - the soil only looked a little damp! Yesterday was mostly spent helping my friends (a) take some old, heavy oak beams from my old, dismantled barn to their house where they will be used to repair their roof,, and (b) a different set of friends to take out their caravan from my large hangar where it has stayed for a few years (they have 3 caravans!).

Planted out the first lot of leeks today. Another 2 varieties are still too small to go out in to the big, wide world. Also hoed today to keep those germinating weeds down.

                        • Started at chums at 10 this morning, hour for lunch, tea as I worked and with his 'help' finished a 7 x 5m decking area round his pool. The pool isn't square but one of those huge pre-formed things with wavy edges so the back of the area needed shaping. But, luckily he had already put some shuttering in so I had something to work off.

Anyway, arrived home just as the church bell was striking 7!

Pics are me hard at work, the potager area of their garden about 10 weeks ago before I sterted on it and the potager today

And the meteo for the next few days is superb so tomorrow I'm cutting grass in the morning, finishing a mini fruit cage in the afternoon (for the gooseberries) and planting out some of the babies.

                          • Nicos did you get that monumental thunder and lightening storm about 3 nights ago. It didnt come from your direction but think it was roughly headed your way, was with me around 2am, so early morning on Tuesday I think. Probably the best lightening display I have ever seen in Europe.

Been pottering this late afternoon/evening but it's still too hot to do too much.

And MUST move some of the water butt water round tomorrow, starting to run short in some places
