Hi tinyvine and welcome to the vine. There are a few of us sotonians here and I'm working on encouraging more. Like every one I talk to who grows their own
It's nice not to be the only one on this thread.
I must say though you probably have the nicer spot to garden. Re the weather apparently it's going to get chilly again at the weekend with the wind moving to the north and the rain coming back. It has been glorious for the last week or so hasn't it. I haven't done much gardening due to needing to get some decorating done while Mr EB was on annual leave.

Hi Earthbabe
I keep forgetting where I've left messages..!
I am apparently growing veg for all my friends - or rather I'm doing the hard bit and then giving them the plants to grow on, so maybe I'll convert a few of em into garden fanatics, only theres nought but grass in their gardens at the mo.
It has been a bit cold, this has slowed me down rather, but is it ok to assume thats it? I hope so, I want to get on now. I'm so rarring to go, i know I'll go ar*e over whatsit.
do you think the last of the frost has gone? I had planned to put my potatos in a month ago but I'm glad I didn't now. So the plan is to do it this weekend. Anyone think we will get another frost and kill them all?
If you are planting them now, they won't be up for a couple of weeks, so you should be ok - just keep them well earthed up until you are sure there won't be any more frost, spuds are tough - your crop might be a week or two late thats all.
The weeks and the years are fine. It's the days I can't cope with!
The weather has been fab the last few days and I've caught the sun on my face already. Only problem is with no real rain for the last couple of weeks everything is looking very dry. Forecast is good for the next few days too, so lots of gardening and outdoor time. Must buy more BBQ coals.
Bright Blessings

tried to edit message above, but couldnt... at last! we have 'proper' rain in SE Kent, and it feels like the kind of wet stuff that might make a difference to the ground - which is rock solid.
speaking as one who slept through the earthquake, I'm delighted to actually be seeing some weather!
