Glorious today, getting hotter as the day went on. More of the same tomorrow as well.

I have had to fill up my 3 rain butts with the hose. Is this a bad omen for the coming year..?

The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

            Sunny Easter.

Wonderful weather so far, been very sunny and warm, bit burnt as well. Garden soil is like concrete. Bent my trusty hand fork weeding.

Have had to water my onion babys i planted out 2 weeks ago, they look bit ill.

Sadly its perfect fence painting weather today. Hot Hot Hot.

With this weather I'm getting very worried about water, our water is only switched on for a couple of hours a day between 9 and 11 I think and we are only allowed 2 buts worth a week, if you can catch the water on. I have 5 water buts of shed and green house but running out fast. I've resorted to taking 5 2ltr bottles down with me every day, for my seedlings.

Its going to be gorgeous, the soft plants are out of the greenhouse for an airing, the barbie is primed and the beer is on ice.

                  20 degrees already.

Very sunny and up to 23 degrees.

There is a threat of frosts next weekend though, Friday, Saturday and the Sunday.

                    • Drought..?

My local paper here in the EastMids has started running drought stories. Its been 6 weeks since we had any recordable rain here. We had quite a lot in one go at the begining of March and then 0.6mm at begining of April.

Combined with hot temps and drying winds I have had to get the hose out twice to fill up rain butts and water a lot of planted out hardy annuals which were really flagging.

According to the BBC weather site we might get a light shower Sun and Mon.

                        • A quite cool breezy night but this has cleared to leave a sunny warm morning. There is the possibility of thunderstorms later.

                            • The rainfall for April was 11.1 millimetre. This was the lowest ever for any month recorded for the 10 years of records I have.
