Had the first frost here last night, it went down to minus 2 & the gritters had been out. Supposed to be going down to minus 5 around here tonight so wrap up all your delicates! I rushed out yesterday & put up my plastic growbag greenhouse & shoved a load of pot plants in there, don't think it will be good enough for when it's really cold but it will do for now.

Beautiful day today after the frost last night! Dry, clear skies and still, a little cold, but wrapped up well and spent almost 7 hours on the plot today! Just a shame the cold seems to make your back ache more than usual when double digging! Forecast is for a harsh frost tonight and another day like today for tomorrow! Looking good for some more digging in the morning!
        Blessings

Overcast and cold with a chilly moderate wind, not as nice down on the plot as of late, but good to keep you cool when double digging I suppose!

Forecast is for a slightly warmer day tomorrow, with sunny intervals and moderate winds, next forecast rain is for Wednesday, the day I go back to work after my hols, so looks like no excuses to use for not spending all our time down the plot until then!
          Blessings

Weather forecast Preston area 5 November

As you probably noticed, I stopped doing this a few weeks ago as I get my info from the BBC and they got it horribly wrong. Have noticed over the past couple of weeks that it has been quite accurate, so here goes:

            Sunday sunny spells daytime 12C night-time 10C sunrise 0717am sunset 1634pm
            Monday sunny spells daytime 12C night-time 5C sunrise 0719am sunset 1632 pm
            Tuesday showers daytime 10C night-time 5C sunrise 0720am sunset 1630 pm
            Weds showers daytime 9C night-time 4C sunrise 0722am sunset 1629 pm
            Thurs sunshine daytime 9C night-time 0C sunrise 0724am sunset 1627pm

Let me know if you want me to carry on posting this info, if its any use to you. DDL

Hi DDL, yes I do find your weather postings useful, I sometimes look up the week ahead on Sky news but it's more general North west than yours is (I know I'm not in Preston but it's near enough for me!). I can't believe how the night time temperature keeps going up & down though from - 3 up to +10 & now I see due to go back down to zero this week! Don't know where I'm up to!

It's always very helpful to have an idea of the forcast - thanks for posting it!
I must admit though that I have always checked with Yahoo and metcheck aswell as the BBC and found for me that metcheck seems to be the most accurate. My mother lives 10 miles west of me, and we certainly notice a difference in weather.

I too find it useful DDL, but after checking BBC myself today, with a forecast low tonight of 6C and then looking outside at the clear skies I'm not so sure how accurate it is going to be tonight, I have a funny feeling in my waters that we may just get a frost tonight!

                      • Been cold, very windy and overcast all day here, in fact started raining about an hour ago and the wind is whistling down the chimney! Unfortunately as we had to nip to the garden center for a few bits it meant we weren't able to spend long down the plot, so didnt get too cold! Hoping that the weather gets a little less windy tomorrow as we can finish moving the strawbs! The rasps and strawbs we moved earlier this week all look fine, so looks like the transplant went well!

Thanks Nicos and Mrs D - we drove back from Straford upon Avon yesterday afternoon - weather was good until we went over Thelwall viaduct - very windy it was blowing the car all over (glad OH was driving!) and when we reached Chorley the heavens opened! wanted to go back down south! ah well, back to reality tomorrow!
