  • Its Official! Shetland the sunniest place in August

Well we thought it was a good one and now we know!

Officially Shetland was the sunniest place in the whole of the UK for the month of August. Normally our August weather can be pretty gloomy, but its been great. Warm too - going off to work without wearing a coat, or jumper - just short sleeves.

    Long may it last

I don't curse you for having all our sunshine this year. I hope you enjoyed it. We'll get it back in '09 ... won't we?

Glad you had some sun. It's been like living under a grey, damp blanket all month here

Lucky you! Still waiting for some summer weather down here - been spring showers and gales all year so far!

Well we paid for it today! Thunder and lighening for most of the day, power went off at 3.30 pm and didn't come on until 7.30 pm. I was just getting in the washing as it looked like really heavy rain, walking to the shed with the (steel) rotary washing line tucked under my arms when I saw a fork lightening flash to earth quite close by.

Coo heck I thought (well sort of ............!) and rushed in quick!
