It was the water on my plot.
Once I had made a little hole in the ice the hens stuck there heads in making it impossible to clear the ice.
Once they had all had a go I had to use a blow torch on it.

      Good grief!

We forgot to bring the quail water bottle in the other night anD the water froze and cracked it.

I was looking at this YouTube video about the winter of 1962/3...

There are few snow scene photos to be taken around my plot.
There are plenty of lumps of ice though.

We are getting through several 12-18" peanut feeders every day.
Tis good to see great tits, bluetits, woodpeckers, nuthatch, goldfinch hanging from them ( and maybe more?)
The robins, wrens , blackbirds, jackdaws, crows, magpies, jays, pheasants, sparras...thrushes...all seem to appreciate what we leave out for them
So glad we bought in anticipation! And of course...fresh water!

brill feelgood factor...and happy to do anything else other Grapes suggests?
