  • Indicators of onset of spring.

    Our Blackthorn is out, on exactly the same day as last year and two weeks later than 2017.
    Can't find '18, '19 and "20 records.

    I live in a part of the UK with very mild winters. Please take this into account before thinking "if he is sowing those now...."

    Frogs are spawning and Birdseye Speedwell is popping up too..

      I have seen queen bumble bees looking for nesting sites.

        The flowers flowering early was mentioned on the news the other day,climate change & how it’ll confuse the wildlife. Last Friday I helped the big bee that looked tired,gave some water with sugar dissolved in it,looked like it was drinking,did a big buzz probably means thank you in bee & then flew over to the flowering currant. It was a cold’ish day……

            From my lounge window I can see a magpie renovating a big nest high in a tree.
