, DannyK. I'd have expected South Croydon to be later than that. Is this a normal time of year for first frosts for you?

Looks like we are a month earlier this year.

          We had it here too.
It has taken about half of the leaves off the squashes and cape gooseberries.
          The other plants look OK.

Had frost the last two nights here, last nights was worse. Even with covering the plants they still had some damage. had to defrost the car this morning.
Month earlier than last year but heating up again apparently.

I had a very, very light frost here last night.
No damage in the garden, at the allotment a very small number of sweet potato leaves were blackened, but otherwise no damage there, either.

I'm glad it wasn't any worse, as it's warming up again next week, so I wouldn't want my veg to get cut short just as things are warming up again.

                Very light frost here too.
OH was up early and said it looked more like there had been a heavy dew, but the bbq lid had a very thin film of frost on the lid.
Plants seem ok when I checked them….another one due tonight.

Not had one since. The weather has been really strange this year. My central heating has been coming on very low on quite a few summer evenings!
                  We are 300' up.

Last year it was 16 October.

We got close last night, 2.3c but no frost, everything appears to be ok.

The tops of all my yacons have turned black and floppy, so it must have been at least close to frost last night.
