  • 7-day forecast from gardenersworld.com

Does anyone else here refer to the 7-day forecast on gardenersworld.com? I have previously been impressed with it's thoroughness and (comparative!) accuracy, but for the last week it seems to be shedding days until I now I look to see a choice of: Today, Tomorrow, today, today, today, today & today.

I'm a little confused! I have tried my local forecast (Nottinghamshire postcode) and also a London forecast, so I can't imagine it's just me. In case it doesn't resolve itself, can anyone recommend a good alternative forecast?

I can tell you what mine is:rain, rain, rain, more rain, sleet possible, snow on the hills.I don't mind the rain,it's needed(not too much as we had a swimming pool today) but it could be a bit warmer

I'm happy with rain; cool (but not freezing) air is fine; but the winds we had in our village today were infuriating!

I work from home but today I had to travel for a meeting. As I was getting ready this morning the sun was beating down and every forecast I saw suggested that would continue, so I propped open windows for the plants indoors and I rolled up covers on my mini-greenhouses. I came home to discover two of those had been blown over, with the covers filling like parachutes. At least it helped me along with deciding which of my many tomato plants to keep.

        7 day forecast ?

Unless it's bright and sunny, they're lucky if they can accurately predict 7 hours.

I don't know why they bother, and I have now learnt not to base my gardening decisions on aberant forecasts as it is more informative to look out of the window.

I know anyone's accuracy past 4 days is as good as a glance at a calendar followed by a toss of a coin (I loved the ideas of chaos theory when I studied mathematics!) but I do find that I get a better idea of what's coming by seeing how a day's forecast develop as it approaches. Maybe it's just because I am paying closer attention, but it makes me happy anyway.

It states very accurately that the wind speed in my home location is 1 mph.

              It's blowing a hoolie.

If I owned a kite shop - I would not be impressed.

Its a nightmare up here in Orkney at the moment the sun is blazing down no rain for days and days and the wind blowing a hoolie for the past week the ground is like a dessert. The forecast keeps telling us it is going to rain day after day but oh boy are they wrong best bet is wake up in the morning and see what the day is like.

According to their banner at the top, my local outside temperature tomorrow is 100°C.

                    Today - Minimum temperature: 3°C/Maximum temperature: 15°C

                    Tomorrow - Minimum temperature: 100°C/Maximum temperature: 0°C

                    See Gardeners' 7-day forecast.
                    Turned out nice again.

I have had the same problem recently. Must be an issue with the site at the moment.

Definitely a problem! I just went on the site, it said 17c today, 100c tomorrow! Looks like Farnham is gonna reach boiling point tomorrow!

In it's defence, it's back working now.

                          It's actually quite comprehensive.
