We had a good one during the night - lightning very impressive. Fair bit of rain too, and still very dark now though the forecast says it should be sunny by 7am

we have one right now, and I have to cycle to school!
being a nerd, I just looked up how to do it safely:
"Rubber soles and rubber tyres offer no protection from lightning at all. If you feel your skin tingle or your hair stand on end, dismount fast, get away from your bike, and squat low to the ground on the balls of your feet. Place your hands on your knees with your head between them. Make yourself the smallest target possible, and minimize your contact with the ground."

Bit of a damp squib! Thunder, lightning and about 10 mins of torrential rain then nothing.
Heavy showers forecast until Monday so here's hoping.

We we're tracking the storm on Isle of Wight Weather conditions and history, updated every 5 seconds. last night. If you go to the site, wait for a bar to appear near the top of the page, click on 'UK' and go to 'UK Lightning Activity' on the drop down menu. When the new page pops up, scroll past the text and you get a live image of England, Ireland and a big chunk of France. It shows all the lightning strikes for the last 30 mins and updates every 5 seconds. I can see Norfolk and Cambridge are having some activity right now.
Its fascinating even though I'm afraid of thunder and lightning!!Last edited by Pumpkin Becki; 17-07-2009, 09:23 AM.
