From everything I've seen so far it's a truly wonderful part of the world and right at the top of the list of places I want to visit soon.
Access laws much like Scotland, truly vast and wild spaces, boreal forest perfect lakes for canoeing alongside the perfect place to hunt, fish, camp and otherwise live off the land for a while... count me IN!
The growing season is a touch short up there for my tastes, so I couldn't settle there, but I could certainly live with spending a year or so up there.
I've got all my Dad's old "learn Swedish" type books and records (I'll be turning them into mp3s at some point) from back in his wandering days when he spent a lot of time in Sweden (and still speaks the language now)... once I've managed to digest them I'll be off; probably not before as I hate being in a country and not being able to speak the language.

Nicos - if we are going to do a trip to the arctic May thru August are the best months as the sun doesn't set during that time. That means more time to play, sightsee, mingle with the locals, eat good grub and meet a bear or two! Finally, at the end of a long day we can settle in, put our feet up and open a few bottles of Polish beer (I am of Polish descent) and reminisce. Absolute bliss!Happiness is being with the love of your life. If you can't have that, then an unlimited supply of well-rotted manure is a pretty close second!
