    Gardening in Italy

Hi, just found this link and I was very interested to read your coments. We have bought a very neglected bit of land in Italy for many of the same reasons. One of the problems we have is that the seasons are nowhere near the same as in England so it is like learning to garden all over again. Stella

Yup, that is exactement where I am! nearer to Millau than Albi and St Affrique is my local town. Where are you??

SBP - It IS lovely here I can highly recommend the area for hols, dirty weekends, and large bridge enthusiasts!

I am starting completely from scratch with the garden most of the veg garden was covered with blackthorn and everything else with nettles and brambles. I also have a steep slope to contend with, but I'll get there......

I agree about the bridge - it's a touch over three hours' drive for us, but well worth it. What an achievement!

Good luck with the nettles, brambles and slope. We had the same when we arrived here. The nettles and brambles are dealt with, but the slope won't go away!

Is that 'dirty weekends' because of the gardening, or is there another reason?

Sorry...but yesterday we had temperatures of 19 c.(after an overnight frost).

                    today it is raining.
which means the river might flood..
You live in South West France and are expecting sympathy?
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

                        tootles,
I travelled over from Gloucestershire in England to stay with the lovely scared55 & scarey55 back end of October last year, and Keith drove us two 'knitting tarts' down to that very bridge, as we all listened to some very well-respected bloke trying to teach us and a bloke and a woman French on the car CD player (see scarey & wellie knit each other to sleep). The Bridge was just the most amazing thing I've ever seen (see The Scarey's Blog for pictures). Wow - truly amazing bridge...... and absolutely breathtaking views, wasn't it?!? X

and the weather forecast for today is very wet and very wet, warm and very wet and warmer and very wet - and about time too, the weather here has been so good lately - a month of warm, uninterupted clear skies etc, the farmers and serious gardeners have been praying for rain.

Grey and overcast here this morning but hey ho, it's still SW France
