Me to Chris, the kitchen is full of toms and beans, bathrooms got squash, cucs and aubergines one spare of the b/rooms has got chilli and peppers in. I've covered over my spuds with soil and clipping then put a cloche over the lot. Heatings on and at least I'm nice and warm.

All the papers and media jumped on the SAME information, from ONE independent weather forcaster, which makes it appear that there have been lots of bad weather predictions, when in fact only ONE person is saying so.

In 2005 the temperature dropped to -3C in Bedfordshire. In 2010 it went down to -4.9C in Northumberland. It seems to regularly get below freezing in Scotland in May, too. In Norfolk in 1941, the temp dropped to -9.4C!

Met office Minimum Temperature records are here and are quite surprising.

I know the long range are not very reliable, but even the mets long range guestimate for May is not very encouraging, for the SE at least. Even if it's not the 'coldest for 100 years', it still makes depressing reading

im south east too looking at other plotters they have planted a lot of stuff out others seeming to just be putting up canes etc but waiting with full greenhouses

Well, no frost here despite one forecast last night !

We had snow yesterday but the sun came out and it got to 10 degrees - which isn't bad for up here. We had frost several mornings last week. The potatoes are well covered with grass clippings but one or two of the broad beans are feeling very sorry for themselves.

No frost here this morning in my garden but lottie site is more exposed. I've covered my strawberries anyway and will keep them covered tonight.

Forecast for Monday not good but I'm at work anyway.

Not surprised to still be get frosts but it usually warms up quickly during the day. I reckon 3rd week in May is about our last frost, but we did get one later than that last year. What I can't get over is our top temperature yesterday was 9 degrees. As a cheery weather presenter said "It's colder than Christmas". Thanks!

Real fed up with the clouds now. This is my first year gardening, and it's not exactly a great one so far!!

I reckon we'll have some good weather in july/august... since its been so bad in may/april.

The weather forecast 2 weeks ago said it's to get warmer down south a week into May and up north by the second week. Hmmm...

Well 4C forecasted this weekend for me, despite it being sunny , so fleece will be out in the GH no doubt again, and my spuds covered again too.
