Luckily made it back from the Mater and Pater's on the bike yesterday before it got tooooo hot....

We put up the net blinds yesterday (they keep the flies out and also help reduce the amount of sun that gets in so we stay cooler) and when i got up this morning the OH already had the french doors wide open, pluse the kitchen door, it was lovely! (that was at 5am...)

Not quite so lovely now as I have had to leave the garden for the shade of the house...

HOWEVER, my direct sown runner beans are now showing and I swear one of them has grown 2" (4cm) today already. Woo Hoo!
If the river hasn't reached the top of your step, DON'T PANIC!

Are you sure about that? The Met-office reckons you've had unbroken sunshine today!
T'is coming to something when they can't get it right even when it's happening.

Here in the north-west it was uncomfortably hot. Most of my plants seem to be loving it, though the lettuces are not so happy, but I can't wait for it to cool down a bit. A nice steady 18°C would be perfect. We've been promised a bit of rain later, which would be nice, but I'd like to know where it's going to come from when we only have high-altitude cirrus clouds.
Tried and Tested...but the results are inconclusive

                    .
The sun came back late morning but its back to patchy cloud cover again now. Warm and dry though - and I won't get strapmarks like some people!
The weather is a law unto itself especially in this neck of the woods!

Yes indeed, I had fleece attached to the inside of the greenhouse to diffuse the sun's rays, the window open and the door slightly ajar...it hit 42°C!
