      • So much sner in the mountains Hautes Pyrenees is on Red Alert - most dangerous avalanche risk since 1990. Roads, ski resorts, high villages all shut. 2 meters of snow in 36 hours.
Frightening, and you know some idiot will go and chance his arm and set the lot sliding.

We've just had it as rain down here. Phew.

Ner sner here either, though it is supposed to come this weekend. But it is freakin' cold! Supposed to drop to -7 tomorrow. Well, there go the overwintering geraniums in the unheated greenhouse. Phooey.

          • Right. Have just seen the local weather fercast for Thursday night, Friday and Saturday. It's fer sner! Hurrer!

Better be right this time....that was BBC so straight from the Met Office. Funny how the MO says ner sner, just rain this weekend. Most of the online fercasts say that too.

            • Just checked the fercasts (thanks for that one Jules! ) again, and now they are saying -3 tomorrow and clear skies this week, snow on Fri and Sat. They seem to change hourly.

I am starting to wonder if the forecasters don't really know what's going to happen so they are trying to cover all possible eventualities as quickly as possible ('there'll be rain, snow or sleet with some sunshine and a chance of tornadoes, becoming brighter overnight except where there's fog, with temperatures ranging from -20 to +30. Except where they aren't.') Perhaps they are hoping that at least a couple of predictions, somewhere, will be right, and we'll be all impressed and go 'oooh, they're so wise.' *snorts*

Still, at least the geraniums may be saved....

                      • Our chocolate is just brilliant. Not that I'm biased. We haven't got much stock left now, a lot went at Christmas. I do miss making it, although not the tempering.

                          • I rescued Mr TS this evening ~ he texted me from 20 miles inland and said traffic was gridlocked, there were several accidents in the snow & ice and he was leaving his car and catching a bus. I figured that if the roads were gridlocked, the buses wouldn't run, so he got a train (the last one that ran to time, as it turned out), and I picked him up, along with a bootful of movie snacks. While the rest of the city was struggling to get home, we were tucked up with a hotty botty and the telly.

We didn't get a single flake here on the coast. Plenty of frost this morning though:
