    • Our snow hasn't gone yet. It's frozen solid. Haven't been out yet.

        • I have to get to school. It'll take me longer to travel than I'll be in class *tut*. It'll take longer to defrost the car than it will to cycle, but the cycle lanes won't be gritted. So, main road it is. Sorry drivers

          • Had about an inch here, some of which has gone and some of which has remained. Can't wait until it warms up a bit and we get some decent rain.

            • Been bitterly cold here all day after a hard frost this morning. We've had a few snow showers (which we weren't supposed to have according to the BBC forecast).

              • Took Trevor (Jack Russell Terrorist) out for his walk today. We usually go around the lake, he isn't bothered to go in but his brother always does. This time, Trevor saw the ice on the lake, thought it was walkable onnable - splosh, splash! one very cold, shocked and frightened dog

                • Evenin all!

Had a busy day today- clearing out the utility room so we can knock through into the room next door- 2ft deep granite stone walls!.
Nearly done but no idea how I'm going to find stuff again.

Positive side is that we found out of date flour - 3 different types which had got pushed to the back/bottom of the shelves
So far I've made 3 loaves for the birds. Oats, raisins, mixed bird seed, meal worm, nuts.
Looks like I've enough to make a couple more too!
I'll pop them in the freezer and put out half each day if the sub zero temperatures stay.

As the wood stove was lit, I also made a rice pudding , stuffed courgettes, chocolate flapjacks, soup and a salmon and scallop quiche ( freezer burnt fish)

I might be living in a building site- but at least the house smells yummy!

                      • You know when they say people shouldn't leave home on Friday unless 'absolutely necessary' what, exactly, do they mean by 'absolutely necessary'?

I can't see many people's workplaces being very understanding.....

                          It's discretionary, isn't it?
For instance, if you've got children and think it's "absolutely necessary" that you take them for a swimming lesson, don't complain if you end up stranded. Likewise going to the shops, library, evening classes, gym etc., all those things you do, but don't need to.

I shall be going to work. I need to. They need me to. If I don't, some of those folk who have made an unnecessary trip to the shops may find there are none of their favourite pies on the shelf.

                          • I've booked Friday as leave. The staff who live within walking distance of the hospital will make it, but as we are an outpatient department, if the staff can't make it, the patients can't either. Essential staff are in emergency departments and will be transported in by any means necessary!

But I too will have to make a 'necessary' journey to work on Friday. Phooey!

                              • We've still got the same amount of snow as the photo I posted yesterday but now its frozen so the pavements aren't very good. I can walk to work in 10mins but I'm a delivery driver so it has to be bad for us not to get the vans out.
