I panicked this morning and rushed out to tie my new blowaway to the washing line post before work. Just got home, half the fence is down, the felt's come off the shed roof but my blowaway is still happily hugging the post.

Its windier now than it has been all day - the good news is that the heavy rain has eased off. So..........always look on the bright side of life................

Looks like we had it lucky up here then today. The roof creaked a bit at work but it's one of those big open plan garden centrytypeplaces.

Strange thing is- after seeing all the red warning shipping forecasts for today I was expecting very windy weather here too ( we're only an hour from the coast)

I'm looking out of my window and there is a slight flutter going on in the tree...maybe it'll hit us in the early hours???

Its nice here now. Birds singing and sunshine poking through the clouds. It has been very blustery all day with one or two heavy showers. Nothing serious thank goodness and like somebody said earlier, I hope the wind didn't blow all the blossom from the fruit trees.

I'm grateful for the rain. I've had a leak in my waterbutt and lost all my rain water, so the plot has really suffered.

Lashing it down here, rainbows and branches down. Simply awful, but at least I'm spared watering.

The wind managed to brake a trellis door yesterday, blew away my 300L Dalek (composter) by 3 foot, plastic pots are all over the garden and my dog chewed up some of them. Two broken pumpkins reported by hubby. I dread to find out what else happened when I get back home.
At least, no watering. Jerusalem artichokes raised their heads and Asiatic lillies appeared literally over night.

they dont get out of bed up here for winds of less than 55-60mph,we had 4 storms over the winter in excess of 80,needless to say,the greenhouse base is concreted down,we used to have a blowaway type and used 3 fullsized kerbstones to anchor it,nothing will move that i said,stupid boy pike,along came the storms and it was never seen again,but that storm did go over 110mph,nearly 10 yrs ago now,thats why mine is held by 6-8ins of concrete,i am still getting used to it,waiting for the spring to start properly now,cherries are in bud,about to flower,about 6 weeks later than last year,so they might be just right for the veg show..we shall see..

Checked my new blowaway yesterday, all the seedlings were rattling away in their trays but I trusted they would stay on their shelves - oops! Today found all the trays on the floor, pots upside down, little seedlings jumbled everywhere. Just about to burst into tears when I realised they could be saved - scooped them back into their pots and trays, and mortal damage seems to have been averted.
The squash and courgette seedlings are all muddled up now, and I can't tell which are which. But it doesn't matter really, time will tell! Have left all the trays on the floor until the wind calms down. At least the blowaway hasn't blown away. I have tied it to the fence so unless that takes off we should be safe.

I sent Mrs H down the allotment today to check that the new shed hasn't moved.

It hasn't

So should be safe until the winter at least
