Ok I'm showing off using the latin for the common mouse but the little beggars have caused a lot of damage this year again in the plot. Worst problems have been with my show cauliflower early on in the year when the centre growing shoots which I assume to be succulent and sweet were completely eaten out. More recently it's been the globe beetroot which has been damaged with literally dozens nibbled/gorged on. WHy can't the little sods just eat them all before starting on another one. I wouldn't grudge sharing a few on that basis.
Anyway, I have a few live traps set and several more spring loaded ones set around the plot loaded with peanut butter as bait. Having to dispose of 2/3 corpses on every plot visit and no sign of a reduction in numbers.
Any suggestions to help aid the eradication of these pests.(other than set more traps)
Incidentally, I've also captured numerous slugs and snails which seem to also be attracted to peanut butter.
