Vine Weevils

Hundreds of the b**gers!
Tried Bug Clear and Provado..... without success.
Anyone tried nematodes?
And if so, any advice before I get some, please?

Primroses, polyanthus, auriculas.
Some in individual pots, some in troughs, some in eighteen inch diameter tubs.

It may be too cold for nematodes at the moment.

The nematode trap for adults is a new one on me, am going to to some research.

Same advice as given for Strawbs----DROWN THEM.
By the time you have purchased all the possible solutions, you could have purchased a bag or two of mpc to repot everything, which may do the plants good at this time of the year anyway.

If the effort is worth it IYO for the plants involved I'd say repot them all a few at a time - be careful to wash off all the old compost from the roots before repotting them in new stuff. I'd also water with a vine weevil chemical killer for a few weeks and place them on new or different shelving.

If you are of a thrifty disposition put the old compost in a barrel of water for a few months or spread it outside for some days the birds to pick over before re-using it.

I spoke too soon about vine weevils a few days ago, as I found some myself yesterday - almost certainly bought in on some Morrison begonias last year.

Thanks DannyK, nickdub and fishpond all for the replies.
An adult trap sounds interesting.
I AM of a thrifty disposition, but even so, think I’ll probably not reuse the compost.
And given the quantity of chemicals I’ve thrown at them, I couldn’t possibly invite the birds or the fish to feed on toxic vine weevils!!
The plants are, in my opinion, worthy of saving, and I’ve got too many to wash all the roots off. So, a few at a time as suggested.
Nematodes later on I think when the soil has warmed up. They’ll work out cheaper than the chemicals, so def worth a try.
