  • Big Bud Mite ?????

Hi Guys. When i inherited my lottie last year i felt so lucky that there were 3 mature fruit bushes, black currant, red currant and white currant.
It appears however that i may have big bud mite as the majority of the buds on the black currant only are rather large and round(the others right next to it seem OK). The bushes are very mature but fruited last year.
So what would you do ??.
I have put new gooseberry bushes in last week, are they at risk ?.
My train of thought is see how it goes this summer and then prune back MASSIVE. Thanks Minty X

    This is big bud Minty

    Big bud

If you have it, prune the lot out now and burn it. If the blackcurrant is riddled with it, it would be prudent to dig it out and burn the whole bush as it will probably have revision virus which will spread to your other currants.
