nah plastic snakes dont really work they twig quite quickly, i have a house rabbit who gets the run of the garden also and if he wants summin he will go through anything to get it lil blighter but then i am a softie for em. mind you if you see any with mixy make sure you tell your local council and if they dont do anything. as i know they didnt were i lived before because it was the council who put the mixy there. (tiz a flea that bites and sends em loopy and die painfully and slowly) you will need to get somone to knock em on the head if you cant do it yourself,
They dont like death the same way as foxes and dead one could deter them for a while.
other than that rabbit wire, and security lights (well till they get used to it ) is going to be your best bet im afraid.or as kernowyon said a 12 bor

Airgun in .22. Its legal and doesn't need a firearms certificate (unlike a shotgun). Not too expensive at £100 upwards or you could try second hand. Bonus is its great fun and you get rabbit pie at the end of it.

Wasn't it the Romans? OK, apart from rabbits, what have the Romans done for us?

don't think Romans brought them, but maybe the Normans instigated rabbit warrens for food source?

Kill and eat them. The most humane way is a gun or a whippet in the early morning or at dusk.(You would need to train the whippet to bring them to you though!!)
