  • Hedgehog Rescue?

I've heard many times that a hedgehog is the best way of controlling slugs. Well, I've got enough to feed an army of the spikey little critters. Someone told me you can rescue them from a wild-life centre, if your garden is reasonably secure. Is this true? Where in Surrey would I get one from?

You'll need to find your local wildlife hospitals and put your name down on their waiting list ( if they have one)

They are very much in demand!

I help out from time to time with injured hedgehogs and baby birds needing 2hrly feeds as it can be utterly exhausting for the hospital staff once the injured and 'abandoned' are handed in.

They have a 3yr waiting list for re homing rescued hedgehogs.

( I suggested hospitals - pleural- as you may get one quicker as some areas have shorter lists.)

    Good luck!

PS- love the name!!....and welcome to the Vine!

Thanks Nicos. Like name, like nature, really. It's my first year growing veg in my current garden and I'm starting to see why people KILL slugs!

3yrs?!? I'd better hope the Nemaslug stuff arrives quick!
