Frogs, frogs and more frogs!

Hi all,

Just returned from my hols, looking forward to getting my garden/plot back in shape.

I can not get in there are hundreds of little froglets about 1cm in size but they are everywhere. I do not want to go in in case I squash them.

Does anyone know how quick they grow? At least if there bigger I know I won't stand on them.

You seem to get a variety of sizes.I think we spent months last year dodging around the little ones!It's a nightmare trying to cut the grass.You have to keep stopping to move frogs out of the way. The up side for me is my grandsons delight in watching them!They didn't seem to grow very quick at all,sorry to tell you!

They do take a while to go and it's interesting trying to avoid them all!

Thankfully this year we don't have any babies but still get shocked when a big one jumps out when you move something

The first I time I noticed them was when I tried to cut my new turf for the first time, imagine my horror, those poor little things

Luckily I had only just switched the mower on and after investigation I am sure I did not get any.

The grass can wait, the veg cannot. Tip toes for me for a few weeks then

I have a friend who just got a new allotment, she spent ages wearing down the man at the council until she made him give her permission to have a tiny pond on her plot. Why ? Because the frogs will eat the slugs.... And the good news is, they don't spend most of their time in the pond - only when breeding - so given a wee bit of damp, shady protection from predators, they will go far afield and do a pretty big area.
They are so cute though, aren't they ! Tread on one, you feel like you should pay for a funeral...
