  • Need help identifying pest/disease

Am having problems finding out what this is.
It's on a hydrangea mostly under leaves and on some stems

I think it is a scale insect. Hydrangea scale to be precise!

Acknowledgement to other half in identification, I thought it was a moth.

I thought scale insect too. Hope you can get rid of it. I think they can be scraped off. I don't like to use insecticides but I think a systemic would get rid - and you aren't going to eat a hydrangea I assume!

Thanks for help, it is scale insect and after another look the stems and branches are covered with the pre egg stage insects as well. So scraping and pinching out the leaves is out.
I don't want to use insecticide so it's going to have to come out
